With substantial investments in new machinery—over £500k in the last 5 years—we’re equipped with state-of-the-art Doosan Puma 2-axis CNC lathes featuring Fanuc control.

What you will do

As a pivotal member of our Engineering Shop, you’ll provide essential services and support for our tube manufacturing operations. Your key responsibilities include:

  1. Programming and Re-profiling: You’ll handle the programming and re-profiling of tool steel rolls used in tube manufacturing.
  2. General Machining Tasks: Assist with other general machining activities within the department.
  3. Flexible Shifts: Work 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, covering days, backs, and nights on a weekly rotation.
  4. Overtime Pay: Enjoy overtime pay at x1.5 for Monday to Saturday shifts and x2 for Sunday shifts.

 

Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with all aspects of the role; we provide additional training where necessary.

 

What you will need

To be considered for the role of Machinist, you should meet the following criteria:

  1. Apprenticeship or Demonstrable Competence:

    • Completion of a relevant recognized apprenticeship or a strong demonstration of competence through practical experience.
  2. Formal Qualifications:

    • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualifications are desirable. However, if you have substantial experience, we’ll consider that as well.
  3. Essential Skills:

    • Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC lathes is essential.
    • Familiarity with CNC programming, including program understanding and editing. While Fanuc experience is preferable, we offer training if needed.
  4. Advantageous Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of manual operation of lathes, milling machines, and other general workshop machinery is advantageous.
  5. Technical Aptitude:

    • Ability to accurately interpret technical drawings and standards.
    • Competence in using measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
  6. Physical Capability:

    • Comfort with performing manual tasks weighing up to 25kg.
  7. Driving License:

    • A valid driving license is required.
