Salary: £31,982 plus 15% shift premium (Total £36,779)

What you will do

As an Electrician, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth operation of machinery while adhering to the highest Health & Safety standards. You’ll follow site maintenance procedures for both planned and unplanned maintenance tasks.

 

You’ll be an integral part of a multi-skilled team that performs both planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Your work schedule will involve rotating 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, alternating between days (7 am - 3 pm), backs (3 pm - 11 pm), and nights (11 pm - 7 am).

 

Your additional duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Electrical Maintenance: Prepare and carry out electrical maintenance activities across the plant.
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate relay control circuits and troubleshoot issues.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure that all engineering activities (preventive, corrective, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance) are accurately documented using the site’s Maintenance Management System (MMS).
  • Technical Skills: Work with different types of drives, AC/DC motors, and perform basic PLC fault finding.
  • Interpretation: Read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Cost Optimization: Contribute to reducing the total life cycle cost of assets and overall maintenance expenses.
  • High Standards: Maintain assets within your designated area to high engineering standards, consistently supporting business objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvement activities that enhance plant availability, safety, environmental impact, and asset performance.

 

What you will need

The ideal Electrician candidate will have:

  • Certification: An electrical Level 3 qualification (NVQ, ONC, BTEC, etc.).
  • Additional Skills: Familiarity with the 18th Edition and basic mechanical skills would be advantageous.

 

We’re also interested in hearing from individuals who possess:

  • Experience: Working with low-voltage electrical systems, drives, and PLCs.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to diagnose electrical system faults and conduct root cause analyses.
  • System Knowledge: Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Computer Literacy: Basic computer skills.
