The Role

Working closely with the Area Engineering Managers, the Process Safety Engineer will drive the adoption of Process Safety best practice across the department. This includes training & coaching as well as applying technical principals as specified by the centre. The role also ensures that compliance to the COMAH regulations is maintained.

The Process Safety Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Leading Process Safety risk assessments including HazOps, BowTies and LOPAs
  • Providing advice on Process Safety standards and systems to the installation using best practice from the Process Safety group
  • Coaching and supporting the manufacturing teams in risk analysis techniques, ensuring completion and review of the risk assessments in compliance with the Management of Change system
  • Managing the installation Management of Change process.
  • Delivering training modules associated with Process Safety and COMAH as required to Tata Steel and contract personnel.
  • Participating in Process Safety incident investigations.
  • Owning and developing installation specific Process Safety documents and databases
  • Ensuring COMAH compliance is maintained and the installation safety reports are updated and reviewed.

The Candidate

As a Process Safety Engineer, you’ll hold solid experience in fast paced heavy industrial manufacturing activities. You will be qualified to a minimum HNC and ideally HND/Degree level. We are looking for chemical, electrical or mechanical engineers who are chartered/working towards chartership with operational experience and understanding of process safety practices and principals.

 

The Process Safety Engineer will have a clear vision of excellence in Process Safety and experience and competence in core safety subjects such as risk assessment and management systems. If you can communicate effectively at all levels, and have the ability to work as part of, and lead multi-disciplinary teams (operational and engineering), then we want to hear from you.
