The Role
The Structural Engineer will carry out Pre-Engineering of various aspects of works and facilitating an engineering service covering all Structural activities. You will be required to carry out all necessary investigations, review meetings, inspections to complete the Pre-Engineering pack to prevent the risk of any additional cost or timescale from any unforeseen extras once the project is with the execution team. Note the supervision/execution of the project is supervised by another team, we purely compile the Pre-Engineering Tender documentation. Part of the role will involve you engaging with contractors obtaining any relevant information to fulfil their pre-planning requirements.
As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Compiling the Pre-Engineering Pack through our standard process, with assistance/collaboration from Tata Consulting team based in India over Teams meetings.
- Initiating discussions with works Area Managers, Engineers and contractors obtaining information and detailed drawings for the scheme.
- Carrying out investigations, interrogating electronic systems, collating and preparing estimates for any proposed work.
- Liaises with various department functions, including in order to obtain any information relative for the Pre-engineering function and to engage with the relevant parties to fulfil this requirement
- Preparing a complete and comprehensive written specification together with explanatory sketches describing the work to be under taken in full.
- Interrogating and analysing design drawings or proposals from contractors/other source for comparison and able to report/resolve on necessary findings
- Preparing and submitting estimates to works management for them to apply for expenditure, SE, Capital Budgets etc. Attends planning meetings to advise and agree with management on a planned programme to minimise loss of production.
- Using electronic systems for access and storage including SAP (Training can be offered in this area)
- Deputising for the Senior Structural Engineer when required.
- Ensuring safe working practices for jobs under their control.
The Candidate
The Structural Engineer will hold theoretical knowledge to HNC, HND, degree level or hold strong experience in a relevant Engineering role. You will be required to have some experience in cost estimating and able to provide a professional Structural Engineering service to all project and capital developments when required.
