Job Title:                      Crane Technician (electrical bias)

Salary:                          £19,579  - £35,514 + Benefits

Contract:                      Permanent

Work Pattern:               Days - 07:00hrs to 15:00hrs Monday to Friday

The Role

We are currently looking to recruit a Crane Technician to maintain and service overhead cranes and hoists ensuring full compliance to our policies while improving Uptime and reducing cost. Performing breakdown repairs and leading preventative maintenance activity across the facility to ensure cranes and associated auxiliary equipment (tracks, down leads etc.) are fully maintained.

Within the role, your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Working to planned schedules perform planned maintenance activities in line with documented / engineering practices. Maintain and repair cranes and axillary equipment in line with documented / engineering practices in a safe and productive manner in order to maximise availability at optimum cost.
  • Co-ordinate scheduled activities with local Operations management to minimise process interference and down time.
  • Maintain the Preventive Maintenance System ensuring records of service, breakdowns and repairs are recorded for all cranes. Where appropriate ensure hard copy records are retained.
  • Ensure all emerging work is recorded on the Planned Maintenance System (Pirana) in order the Planning manager can facilitate corrective actions.
  • Manage breakdowns ensuring equipment is repaired in a timely manner and in accordance with Tata Crane policy. Maintain accurate records of all breakdowns and work completed on the Planned Maintenance System.
  • Control spares and inventory across all businesses to ensure,  within budget constraints, Crane downtime is minimised. Ensure all spares are recorded and managed through the Planned Maintenance System.
  • Facilitate optimal performance by working flexibly within the team and the context of the site, undertaking maintenance at short notice.

What we’re looking for

Applicants will  have completed a recognised engineering electrical apprenticeship and possess an accredited vocational qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds) or time served. You will have a Detailed knowledge of overhead crane maintenance, including crane rails, associated lifting equipment, hooks, ropes etc.

We require applicants to have the ability to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and be computer literate. The ability to work without close supervision, yet under pressure and to tight timescales is essential.
